This position attracts a 2 point pay allowance with extra release time

We are a co-educational, comprehensive Catholic secondary school in Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese, catering for students across Years 7 to 12. The Leader of Learning: English will fit the following criteria:

  • Contemporary professional knowledge and understanding of the teaching of English across Years 7-12.
  • Understand the factors that influence learning and teaching; such as effective pedagogies, assessment and reporting and selecting appropriate resources.
  • Understanding of how to differentiate learning to cater for students needs in order to maximise student growth.
  • Exemplary professional practice which includes building effective relationships and managing complex interactions, creating and maintaining engaging and intellectually challenging and safe learning environments; planning, implementing and evaluating rigorous and inclusive learning programmes.
  • Proven capacity and success in leading a team to achieve the school’s plan for improvement.
  • Use assessments and constructive feedback to inform teaching and learning.

You will have attained:

  • eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
  • employee ID registration number with Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese or a commitment to Registration to Teach in CSPD schools.
  • Accredited tertiary qualification in education or degree in the English discipline with a graduate degree in teaching
  • Demonstrated experience or capacity to lead a high performing team in a school setting
  • Applicants with a capacity to teach Religious Education will be advantaged
  • Working with Children Check
  • Australian resident or citizen

The desirable applicant will demonstrate a commitment to:

  • engage with research-based intervention strategies in a variety of learning environments
  • track student progress in literacy with data, in order to work with teachers to develop their understanding of diverse learning needs.
  • work collaboratively with staff to cater for diverse learning needs.
