CSPD is seeking an experienced and passionate Education Officer to lead and support the development of effective English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) practices across our schools. This is your opportunity to play a vital role in improving learning outcomes for newly arrived students and ensuring inclusive, high-impact teaching across our Diocese.

About the Role:

As part of the mission of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Parramatta, this role contributes to our strategic Uplift program by enhancing teacher capacity and supporting best-practice pedagogy for EAL/D learners.

In this role, responsibilities will include:

  • Embed the use of the ESL Scales and EAL/D Learning Progression to support consistent assessment, monitoring, and instructional planning for newly arrived EAL/D students.
  • Collaborate with instructional coaches and key personnel in  schools to strengthen literacy and language learning.
  • Engage with the Student Support Directorate and educational research to inform best practice and delivery models tailored to the needs of EAL/D learners.
  • Design and deliver impactful professional learning that builds teacher confidence and capacity in EAL/D instruction, aligned with the CSPD Uplift program.
  • Maintain centralised documentation and manage resources, policies, and compliance to ensure consistency and quality of service delivery.

About You:

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Qualifications in education, with specialist training or experience in EAL/D or ESL
  • A deep understanding of EAL/D pedagogies, assessment tools (e.g. ESL Scales, Learning Progression), and evidence-based literacy strategies
  • Proven experience supporting teachers and leading professional learning initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across diverse school contexts
  • A commitment to improving outcomes for students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Alignment with the mission and values of Catholic education
