About the Westmead Catholic Community

The Westmead Catholic Community is a K-12 education precinct consisting of one primary school (Mother Teresa Primary) and two secondary schools (Catherine McAuley and Parramatta Marist). The ICT Services team provides excellent customer support for all ICT Services and function areas to over 3,500 end users. 

Function Specific Accountabilities

The Technical Support Officer is accountable for the following:

  • Delivering a high level of technical and customer service support to members of the community, including but not limited to staff, students, visitors, vendors, volunteers etc;

  • Working as a part of a high-functioning, proactive technical support team across the community to achieve departmental goals, objectives and targets;

  • Monitoring the school's internal helpdesk ticket system to provide technical support for the staff and students;

  • Investigating standards of technology use and establishing appropriate use;

  • Identifying improvements to technical support processes and procedures;

  • Adhere to policies and processes within CSPDL and the community;

  • Providing clear, practical and professional best practice level advice and support to CSPDL Central Office ICT, WCC ICT, and the School leadership team;

  • Working with members of the community learning teams to support the use and management of system learning management system and third-party applications such as Compass, Canvas and Education Perfect;

  • Participating in deploying various ICT projects driven by the school’s strategic plan.

  • ICT asset management (both hardware and software) – including the planning and implementation of asset decommissioning and replacement where possible;

  • Audit and maintain the schools’ end-user devices and systems and record work electronically;

  • Servicing ICT hardware and software, including the configuration of new machines, maintenance of workstations/laptops, printers and peripherals;

  • Operate AV system for the school event;

  • Managing the School CCTV system

  • Following ITIL practices, complete incidents raised by schools;

  • By the nature of the position, be required to be contactable and available to perform work outside regular working hours;

  • Other tasks are delegated by the Head of ICT Services.

Typical Experience and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in the area of Information Technology;

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar position within the education sector desirable;

  • Relevant professional certifications, i.e. ITIL, will be preferred.


This position is a 12-month contract classified as a General Employee Level 4 (unaveraged), as per the NSW and ACT Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023. The salary will depend on experience and qualifications.

The Organisation

Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese provides quality learning and teaching in a faith-centred environment across 80 primary and secondary schools and within early learning and out of school hours care centres in Western Sydney. 

This position involves working with children.
