The Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta is looking for a skilled, contemporary and passionate Full Time 2Pt Coordinator and K- 4 Primary Teacher to be part of our college community and enrich the lives of our students. Santa Sophia Catholic College (Gables) provides a Christ-centred environment, aimed at educating the whole child, and helping students to be people of true wisdom through faith, hope and love. 

 

The College brings together the best we know about how young people learn and how to teach them. Within a Catholic faith environment, students will learn how to be responsible global citizens, how to think creatively and critically, how to communicate and work collaboratively.

 

We are seeking applications for the position of Leader of Learning and Wellbeing. In 2025, this will be a 2-point Coordinator position in the School of Curiosity teaching and leading in Stage 1. Middle Leaders are responsible to the leadership team of each school for the development of a shared understanding of leading the relevant agendas of the particular school in which they work.   

 

As a Leader of Learning and Wellbeing, you will be responsible to work collaboratively with teachers in your stage team, leading a high performing Catholic school that is innovative and responsive to the learning needs of each student. You will possess an extensive knowledge of explicit teaching and inquiry based learning, and have demonstrated the ability to lead and mentor colleagues to build confidence and capacity in pedagogy.

 

Role Summary:

  • Leading Learning: 

    • Overseeing the K-4 learning agendas for their stage

      • Explicit Teaching

      • Inquiry Learning

      • Learner Agency

    • Work closely with English, Mathematics and RE Instructional Coaches to successfully facilitate the implementation of SIP goal strategies and curriculum in their stage 

    • Leading and overseeing the planning and development of an additional KLA/s in K-4 (e.g. new curriculum implementation, scope and sequences, curriculum/program compliance) 

    • Lead teachers in the teaching, learning, assessment and reporting cycle, including engaging in learning walks with teaching teams to observe, discuss and inform best pedagogical practice.

    • Actively work with parents, students and other staff members regarding curriculum issues such as assessment, reporting, engagement and performance

  • Leading Wellbeing: 

    • Overseeing the K-4 Wellbeing agendas for their stage 

    • Work with College Wellbeing Leader and other K-4 Leaders of Learning and Wellbeing

  • Actively support the college Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBS4L) framework

  • Assist in coordinating wellbeing activities and initiatives within college, school or stage 

  • Supporting stage teaching teams with the Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) framework, including involvement with specific student behavioural and wellbeing support

  • Working with counsellors in successfully implementing suggested supports for students in their stage
     

  • Demonstrated success as a classroom teacher, and a proven ability to lead best practice

  • Meet with the School of Curiosity middle leadership team, K-4 Instructional Coaches and College Wellbeing Leader as required

  • The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all College stakeholders

  • A commitment to contributing to the mission of the Church through an active engagement in the faith life of our school

  • A willingness to become an active member of a vibrant college community, engage with and contribute to college life within and beyond the classroom to enrich the educational context for students and promote the links between school, home and community

  • Other duties as determined by the Principal and Head of School to support the needs of the grade/stage.
