Catherine McAuley Westmead is seeking a Secondary Religious Education/Visual Arts Teacher to join their collaborative team on a Permanent Full-Time basis, commencing in Term 1 2025. The teacher can have any subject as a major; this position will be heavily supported by other teachers at the school. This opportunity is open to educators who are passionate about contributing to a dynamic and supportive educational environment.

Position Criteria:

  • Demonstrate understanding of the curriculum and the Theology by which it is underpinned, by knowing key concepts, skills, pedagogy, subject specific literacy and language and current issues pertaining to Religious Education.

  • Teachers are able to critically select each of these appropriate to each student's stage of development and challenges students to be witnesses of faith by providing them appropriate activities in formation.

  • Teachers of Religious Education plan for and implement effective learning and teaching by negotiating with students to develop individual, explicit, challenging and achievable learning goals.

  • This teacher designs conceptually coherent learning programmes using research evidence and appropriate teaching strategies.

  • Analyses and evaluates a student's learning by using a range of strategies for providing feedback in relation to the student's current and future learning.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Education (or fourth year student)

  • NESA Accreditation (Conditional Accreditation also accepted)

  • Statements of Service

  • Working with Children Check clearance (essential)

  • Exceptional communication skills
