Parramatta Marist High School is a Catholic school with a history and tradition spanning 200 years.  Since 1875 it has been shaped by the Marist charism, one that flows from a basic trust in God and a desire to follow Christ in the way of Mary.  Our pedagogy is based around Project/Problem Based Learning and Flipped Classroom through a collaborative approach in Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) and Team-Teaching.

Applications are invited for a skilled, contemporary and passionate Technologies and VET Construction Teacher to be part of our school community and enrich the lives of our students. Teachers within the Diocese are responsible to the Principal and share in the learning and teaching of subject matters to students of the school community. Teachers are responsible for delivering high quality contemporary learning and teaching for the community they serve which is embedded in the Catholic world view. It is a collaborative ministry of witness and service and part of the evangelising mission of the Church.

Key focus areas

The Technologies and VET Construction Teacher will fit the following criteria:

  • Contemporary and authoritative professional knowledge and understanding of the teaching of Technologies and the factors that influence learning and development, effective pedagogies, assessment and reporting, a wide range of resources, including interactive technologies, and their use in teaching and learning.

  • A preparedness to learn and implement the pedagogies used within the school, namely Project/Problem Based Learning and Flipped Classroom.

  • Understanding of how to differentiate learning to cater for students needs in order to maximise student learning.

  • Exemplary professional practice which includes building effective relationships and managing complex interactions, creating and maintaining engaging and intellectually challenging and safe learning environments, planning, implementing and evaluating rigorous and inclusive learning programs.

  • Commitment to the continual improvement of their teaching practice and take opportunities for personal professional development.

  • Work creatively and constructively within a range of 'communities' inside and beyond the school and set high, achievable goals for themselves and their students.

  • Exhibits passion and proficiency in a specialised technology, including but not limited to:

    • Technology Mandatory

    • Timber

    • Building and Construction 

    • Computing

    • Food

    • Design

    • Engineering

    • STEM

The Organisation

Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese provides quality learning and teaching in a faith-centred environment across 80 primary and secondary schools and within early learning and out of school hours care centres in Western Sydney. 

This position involves working with children. The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment including the completion of a National Police Check, retention of a valid Working with Children Check and adoption and compliance with CSPD'S Child Safeguarding Procedures and Code of Conduct When Working With Students and Children.
