The Position

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a co-educational systemic primary school with a population of approximately 400 students located in Wentworthville. Our Lady of Mount Carmel was founded in 1922 and has a unique culture guided by the dual charisms of the Sisters of Mercy and the Carmelite Priests. We build on these foundations to reflect the shared values of Compassion, Dignity and Justice to live as disciples of Jesus.

About the Opportunity:

Our Lady of Mount Carmel School is seeking innovative teachers who want to make a difference in the lives of the children they teach. We are looking for a full-time teacher for a great Year 4 class. Teachers within the Diocese are responsible to the Principal and share in the learning and teaching of subject matters to students of the school community. The successful applicant will be a qualified teacher capable of designing and delivering high-quality contemporary learning and teaching for the community they serve which is embedded in the Catholic worldview. It is a collaborative ministry of witness and service and part of the evangelising mission of the Church.

 

Position Criteria - The successful candidate will:

  • Have a sound knowledge of, and, commitment to the Mission of the Catholic school and possess relevant Religious Education qualifications.

  • Have a high standard of competency and proficiency as a teacher and be familiar with best practices, especially in developing the literacy and numeracy skills of students with learning difficulties.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of how to use targeted feedback and data to inform teaching and learning in order to create differentiated teaching programs that cater for the needs of all students, especially vulnerable students.

  • Communicate and work collaboratively in teams to plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate learning, including but not limited to individual student personalised plans.

  • Enable students to use information technology on a daily basis in order to enhance their learning.

  • Be committed to delivering a child-centred approach to education, where the students are actively engaged in the learning.

  • Be committed to ongoing professional learning as a member of a professional learning community.

  • Be willing to contribute to the broader aspects of school life.

The Organisation

Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta provides quality learning and teaching in a faith-centred environment across 83 primary and secondary schools and within early learning and out-of-school-hours care centres in Western Sydney. 

This position involves working with children. The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment including the completion of a National Police Check, retention of a valid Working with Children Check and adoption and compliance with CEDP’s Child Safeguarding Procedures and Code of Conduct When Working With Students and Children.
