Catherine McAuley Westmead is seeking a Leader of Learning Mathematics to join the School Leadership Team on a permanent, full-time basis. This leadership role is central to building a safe, supportive, and dynamic environment where every student can flourish academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

The Role

The Leader of Learning Mathematics will fit the following criteria:

  • Lead a dynamic team of educators within the Mathematics faculty.

  • Be organised, collegial and possess good communication skills in order to effectively lead learning in the Mathematics faculty. 

  • Support assessment, reporting, data management and compliance requirements.

  • Contemporary and authoritative professional knowledge and understanding of the teaching of Mathematics and the factors that influence learning and development, effective pedagogies, assessment and reporting, a wide range of resources, including interactive technologies, and their use in teaching and learning.

  • A preparedness to learn and implement the pedagogies used within the school that focus on explicit teaching within an inquiry framework.

  • Understanding of how to differentiate learning to cater for students needs in order to maximise student learning.

  • Exemplary professional practice which includes building effective relationships and managing complex interactions, creating and maintaining engaging and intellectually challenging and safe learning environments, planning, implementing and evaluating rigorous and inclusive learning programs.

  • Commitment to the continual improvement of their teaching practice and take opportunities for personal professional development.

  • Work creatively and constructively within a range of 'communities' inside and beyond the school and set high, achievable goals for themselves and their students.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Current NESA Teacher Accreditation

  • Demonstrated leadership experience

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents

  • A commitment to ongoing professional learning and formation in faith and mission

  • Current Working with Children Check clearance (essential)
