Job Summary

St Columba’s is seeking a passionate Science Lab Assistant to join our supportive team working 60 hours per fortnight, from 8:30am to 3:00pm. This is a permanent role, Monday to Friday commencing 2026!

 

The successful candidate 

  • 2yrs school experience in this role and relevant training / qualifications
  • Prepare and set up equipment, chemicals, and materials for practical science lessons across Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • Clean, maintain, and safely store laboratory equipment and materials after use.
  • Assist teachers during experiments and practical activities where required.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements, including the safe handling and disposal of chemicals and biological materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of chemical inventories and equipment.
  • Support the development of new experiments and demonstrations to enhance student learning.
  • Assist in maintaining an organised, efficient, and safe working environment in the lab and preparation areas.
  • Participate in professional learning and safety training as required.

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications (desirable)
