Take on a key leadership role within our growing Learning Outcomes directorate. CSPD is currently recruiting for a Senior Education Officer - Primary to join the team.

As an Education Officer for Primary Learning, you will be a key driver in enhancing teaching and learning practices across our primary schools, providing expert curriculum support and implementing evidence-based strategies to elevate student learning outcomes. In this role, you will

  • Provide expert advice to Education Officers and school leaders, helping them apply educational research and CSPD frameworks into scalable systemic strategies, resources and programs to support excellence in student outcomes

  • Guide and mentor Education Officers in the design, delivery, and evaluation of targeted and broad teaching and learning initiatives, ensuring these align with CSPD’s goals and best practices and the Effective Learning and Teaching Model (ELTM)

  • Lead the coordination, delivery and evaluation of teacher professional development and curriculum initiatives, working with internal leaders and external partners to build teacher expertise and middle leadership capability across the diocese, ensuring it reflects current research and system priorities

  • Offer specialised expertise in key learning areas (such as literacy, numeracy, assessment, pedagogy, or digital learning), contributing to the development of resources and programs that meet system needsRepresent the Learning Outcomes team in committees, working groups, and promote effective communication and collaboration across the Learning Outcomes team, other CSPD teams, schools, and external partners

  • Support the Manager with planning, risk assessment, and decision-making by providing insights on trends and priorities and developing and implementing relevant policies and procedures to ensure consistency and quality across all learning programs

  • Perform other duties as directed by the Manager, Learning Outcomes or delegate.

About You

You are a collaborative, strategic, and experienced education leader who thrives on the opportunity to drive change. You have a deep understanding of curriculum and pedagogy, a passion for teacher development, and a commitment to the mission of Catholic education.

You will also bring:

  • Extensive experience in education and a strong track record in school or system-level leadership

  • Expertise in curriculum design, assessment, and pedagogical practices informed by best evidence.

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and facilitating effective professional learning

  • Strong mentoring and leadership skills, with the ability to build capacity in others

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills

  • A strategic mindset, with the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate large-scale initiatives

  • A strong understanding of the NSW primary curriculum and syllabuses, including foundational areas such as English and Mathematics, to support high-quality, system-wide learning initiatives.

  • Postgraduate qualifications in education or a related field (desirable but not essential).

  • A strong alignment with the mission and values of Catholic education
