Key Responsibilities

The Senior Education Officer - EAL/D is accountable for:

  • Embedding the EAL/D Learning Progression to support consistent assessment, monitoring and instructional planning for EAL/D students
  • Engaging with Student Support stakeholders and evidence-based research to advise on effective delivery models for newly enrolled EAL/D students
  • Designing, delivering and evaluating professional learning and curriculum initiatives, in collaboration with internal leaders and external partners, to build teacher expertise and middle leadership capability in Tier 1 universal supports, aligned with CSPD strategy
  • Working with instructional coaches and school-based personnel to support the implementation of Tier 1, 2 and 3 approaches that strengthen English language and literacy outcomes for EAL/D students
  • Collaborating with Primary and Secondary Learning leaders to develop and implement frameworks, methodologies and reporting structures for identifying, supporting and monitoring EAL/D student progress and outcomes
  • Building teacher capacity in the delivery of the Stage 6 English EAL/D course in alignment with CSPD learning priorities
  • Guiding and monitoring schools in the accurate collection and maintenance of EAL/D student data to meet system and legislative requirements
  • Contributing EAL/D expertise to the development of system-wide resources, programs and initiatives
  • Managing centralised documentation, resources, policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Supporting Primary and Secondary Learning Managers through analysis of trends, planning, and the development of policies and processes that enhance system coherence and quality
  • Undertaking other duties as directed by the Executive General Manager, Learning Outcomes or delegate

About You and Your Application

The ideal candidate would have demonstrated experience in:

  • TESOL Certification (desirable but not essential)
  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent in either Primary or Secondary Education
  • Demonstrated expertise in EAL/D pedagogy, assessment and evidence-based practices that improve English language and literacy outcomes
  • Proven ability to design and deliver high-impact professional learning and build teacher and middle leadership capability
  • Experience collaborating with school leaders, instructional coaches and stakeholders to implement Tier 1, 2 and 3 support frameworks
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, including experience using student data, reporting and compliance processes to drive improvement
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a passion for supporting culturally and linguistically diverse learners
