CSPD is seeking a skilled Safeguarding & Legal Specialist to join our team on a permanent full time basis, in this position you’ll play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of safety across our schools. You’ll lead investigations, deliver safeguarding training, and support the implementation of Child Safe Standards! You’ll ensure our people, processes and practices uphold the highest standards of care.
Key Responsibilities
The Safeguarding Legal Specialist is accountable for:
- Collaborating with stakeholders in the coordination of safeguarding legal matters for CSPD and associated tasks including preparing briefing papers, attending settlement conferences and mediations, record management, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
- Conducting factual investigations in relation to child protection matters including undertaking interviews, risk assessments and detailed documentation, as well as liaising with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. OCG, DCJ, NSW Police and legal firms)
- Contributing to the design and delivery of Safeguarding training to improve practices across schools
- Supporting the continuous development and review of safeguarding policies, procedures and guidelines
- Managing and responding to queries and requests for information, including supporting the RFI Officer with conducting requests for information
What you'll bring
To be successful in this highly rewarding role you will be a passionate and experienced Safeguarding professional along with the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in the relevant area of study (Legal, paralegal, or relevant background and/or experience in safeguarding practices and policies)
- Experience within a similar role is ideal but not mandatory (we are open to transferable skills)
- An understanding of the difficult content that may be present in some aspects of the work and discussion within the office.
- Experience with Reportable Conduct Scheme and Child Safe Standards
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- An Australian drivers licence
