Acting Principal - St Monica's Primary Richmond

Lead a historic and welcoming Catholic primary school where faith, learning and belonging enable every child to flourish.

Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese is seeking an experienced, faith-filled educational leader to join St Monica’s Primary School, Richmond, as Acting Principal. This is a temporary full-time appointment for Term 1 2027 and Term 2 2027, covering a period of employee leave.

As Acting Principal, you will provide spiritual, educational and operational leadership to a close-knit Catholic primary school community. You will build upon the school’s strong foundations, support the continued delivery of its strategic priorities and foster a culture in which students, staff and families feel known, valued and connected.

This is an excellent opportunity for a relational and capable leader to guide a well-established school community while further developing their principal leadership experience within one of Australia’s largest Catholic education systems.

You lead with clarity, compassion and purpose, building strong relationships and creating the conditions in which students and staff can thrive. You understand the importance of continuity during a temporary leadership appointment and can quickly establish trust, work collaboratively with the school community and maintain a clear focus on strategic and operational priorities.

Your leadership reflects high expectations, sound judgement and a strong belief in the transformative power of Catholic education.

• Demonstrates a deep understanding of Catholic identity, actively nurturing a Christ-centred culture that shapes relationships, decision-making and every aspect of College life.

• Leads an unrelenting focus on student learning, growth and wellbeing through a coherent, evidence-informed improvement agenda, high expectations and the effective implementation of curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment.

• Builds high-performing leadership teams and professional learning communities, strengthening collective efficacy, accountability and professional growth through collaboration, reflection and evidence-informed practice.

• Champions evidence-informed decision-making, using data purposefully to evaluate impact, guide strategic priorities and build staff capability to improve student outcomes.

• Creates a culture of trust, belonging and high expectations, where diversity is celebrated, student voice is valued and families are engaged as genuine partners in learning.

• Provides strategic stewardship of people, resources and partnerships, allocating staff, time, finances and facilities equitably while building purposeful community connections and leading sustainable, future-focused improvement.

Qualifications & Accreditation

Applicants must:

• Meet the requirements of Category E Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead, or be willing to achieve these requirements within the first contract term

• Hold a valid Working with Children Check

• Hold NESA accreditation

During the recruitment process, applicants will be required to provide:

• Certified copy of Category D or E Accreditation

• Copy of Baptism Certificate

• Working with Children Check clearance

• A Parish Priest Recommendation

• Evidence of NESA accreditation
