St Nicholas of Myra Primary is seeking a reliable and proactive Grounds Maintenance Officer to join our school community on a temporary part-time basis (24 hours per fortnight) until 27 August 2026!

 

This role plays an important part in supporting the daily operations of the school by maintaining safe, clean and well-presented facilities and grounds. Working collaboratively with school leadership and staff, you will contribute to an environment that supports positive learning and pastoral outcomes for students.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Principal or their delegate, you will undertake a range of building, grounds and cleaning duties, including:

 

  • General maintenance and non-specialised repair work
  • Gardening and grounds upkeep, including planting and turf care
  • Operating and maintaining grounds equipment under supervision
  • Supporting qualified tradespersons with building and furniture maintenance
  • General cleaning duties including classrooms, amenities and shared spaces
  • Waste management and maintaining high standards of hygiene
  • Assisting with school vehicle care, including occasional bus driving (fewer than 25 passengers)
  • Responding to alarms and assisting with site security procedures

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

 

  • Experience in general maintenance, grounds or cleaning services

  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks

  • A proactive and reliable approach to work

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff

  • A commitment to maintaining safe work practices

This position does not require a trade qualification; however, relevant experience and practical skills aligned to the duties are essential.
