About the Opportunity
Our Legal, Governance & Risk team is seeking a Senior Legal Officer, accountable for using a high level of understanding and insight into the law and legal issues specifically relevant to the delivery of school-based education in NSW to provide internal legal advice, ensure legal compliance, and support strategic decision-making for the organisation. This role will lead privacy and information management approaches for CSPD and will be the nominated Privacy Officer for the organisation. This role is ongoing full-time with hybrid working offered.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the General Counsel, the Senior Legal Officer is accountable for:

Providing pragmatic and business-focused solutions to legal issues, both simple and complex

Advising the Executive Leadership Team, senior system and school leadership and Board on legal and privacy matters

Drafting and reviewing contracts as well as providing contract-specific and general corporate and commercial advice

Overseeing privacy and information management, serving as CSPD's Privacy officer

Representing or coordinating representation of CSPD in courts and tribunals

Supporting Principals and other leaders in legal issues arising from operation matters, including compliance with court orders

Providing legal input on strategic, governance and administrative matters and sourcing and managing relationships with external providers where external expertise is required
About You
- 5+ years PAE with a reputable firm and/or in house
- LLB
- Current practicing certificate
- Excellent negotiation and decision making skills
- Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to work confidently with people at all levels within the business
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to manage competing priorities and short deadlines
- Strong commercial outlook and “team player” attitude
