Post School Options (PSO) is a multidisciplinary team within the Student Support Directorate’s Student Engagement Team. We support students who are disengaged from school, have a disability requiring substantial adjustments, are connected with DCJ or in out-of-home care, have behavioural or attendance concerns, identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, or have complex transition and engagement needs.
We are seeking a committed and proactive School Support Officer – Skill Development and Transition to join our team. This role plays a key part in supporting students as they prepare for life after school, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to engage in further education, training, or employment.
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with schools, colleagues, students, families, and community partners to promote skill development and facilitate meaningful post-school transition opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students to develop vocational, employability, and independent living skills that enhance their transition to post-school pathways.
- Build students’ capacity by modelling tasks, providing supervision, guidance, and on-the-job training.
- Develop and implement resources and programs that support skill training and work experience.
- Use assistive technology effectively to enhance engagement and learning for students and staff.
- Collect, analyse, and report on relevant data, outcomes, and evidence to inform planning and review.
- Engage with local employers and community organisations to establish and maintain work experience and training opportunities.
- Complete administrative tasks and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
- Participate in training, supervision, and professional development activities as required.
Qualifications and Experience

Certificate III or IV in Education Support and experience in schools;

Other relevant qualifications and/or experience

Valid Working with Children Check

Compliance with CSPD’s Child Safeguarding Procedures and Code of Conduct.
