Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) is seeking an experienced and people focused Payroll Manager to join our team on a Temporary full-time 6 month contract. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong payroll leader who thrives in a fast paced environment and enjoys leading teams, driving continuous improvement and ensuring the delivery of accurate, compliant and timely payroll services across a large and complex organisation.

You will be responsible for leading the payroll function, overseeing payroll operations and ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and organisational policies. You will play a key leadership role in supporting payroll staff, enhancing payroll systems and processes, and partnering with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop a dedicated payroll team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Oversee end to end payroll operations to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Ensure compliance with Awards, Enterprise Agreements, employment contracts and legislative requirements.
- Manage payroll-related reporting, reconciliations and statutory obligations including payroll tax, workers compensation and taxation requirements.
- Drive process improvements and support enhancements to payroll systems and procedures.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to provide expert payroll advice and resolve complex payroll matters.
- Coordinate payroll audits and ensure ongoing compliance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support strategic initiatives and projects that enhance payroll service delivery and operational effectiveness.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing payroll teams.
- Extensive payroll management experience within a medium to large organisation.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
- Proven ability to lead change, improve processes and drive operational excellence.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
- SAP experience is highly regarded.
