About the Role

The position involves teaching Years 7–10 Science and Stage 6 Biology and/or Investigating Science. Applicants with a willingness to teach Investigating Science are encouraged to apply.

The Science Teacher will meet the following criteria:

  • A strong pedagogical knowledge base and understanding of how Science is learned, what affects students’ opportunities to learn, and how the learning and teaching of Science can be enhanced.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach Years 7–10 Science, with the ability to teach Stage 6 Biology and/or a willingness to teach Investigating Science.

  • An understanding of our pedagogy based around Project/Problem Based Learning and Flipped Classroom.

  • Understanding of how to differentiate learning to cater for students’ needs and maximise student learning.

  • Sound understanding of learning environments, lesson planning, use of technology, teaching practices, and the delivery of assessment and learning feedback.

  • Commitment to continually improving teaching practice and engaging in ongoing professional development.

  • Ability to work creatively and constructively within communities inside and beyond the school and set high, achievable goals for themselves and their students.

  • Ability to motivate students to achieve and develop a lifelong love of learning.
