Xavier College, Llandilo is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our team and provide dedicated one-to-one support for a student with a specific disability. This is a permanent full-time position, commencing at the start of the 2026 school year.

Key Responsibilities

The Learning Support Assistant will work collaboratively with teachers, specialists, and support teams to ensure that all students—particularly those with additional needs—experience success. Responsibilities include:

 

  • Providing direct one-to-one support for a student with a specific disability, ensuring safety, wellbeing, and meaningful engagement in learning.
  • Assisting with the implementation of personalised learning plans, behaviour support plans, and adjustments aligned with NCCD requirements.
  • Working with classroom teachers to deliver targeted learning activities and differentiated support.
  • Fostering positive relationships to promote student confidence, independence, and social-emotional development.
  • Supporting the evangelising mission of Catholic education and modelling the values of Xavier College.
  • Assisting the student in accessing learning through inclusive practices, sensory regulation, and communication supports.
  • Using digital tools and learning platforms to enhance student engagement and track progress.
  • Providing ongoing feedback to teachers regarding student achievements, challenges, and next steps.
  • Participating in professional learning, team meetings, and reflective practices, including coaching and classroom observations.
  • Maintaining confidentiality, upholding safeguarding responsibilities, and contributing to a safe and supportive school environment.
