Caroline Chisholm College is seeking a caring and dedicated TAS Assistant to play a crucial role in supporting the TAS KLA and providing professional support service in a fast paced school learning environment. The position supports the work of the school staff and the TAS Tech teachers to ensure high quality teaching and learning can be effectively delivered. The TAS Assistant role will be 4 days per week with the possibility of going 5 days in 2027!
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will work collaboratively with teachers and school staff to:
- Provide assistance and support to the TAS department ensuring all practical lessons are delivered effectively.
- Liaise with teachers regarding upcoming practical classes, set up classes, ensuring all the necessary equipment and ingredients are in place.
- Manage food orders and shopping for all hospitality and food technology classes.
- Ensure the kitchens have required equipment stocked
- Maintain digital recipes and corresponding order sheets on the Foodie Manager platform.
- Accept deliveries, check stock against invoices.
- Unpack and appropriately store deliveries: This includes labelling all food with the receival date prior to storage and then rotated on a first in, first out basis. Food types must be grouped on shelves and not located next to chemicals.
- Willingness to assist in the Textiles area when required, including preparing and organising resources, machine cleaning and overlocker reset, stock control.
- Desirable experience using and maintaining cricut cutting machines, Trotec laser machine.
- Pickup supplies where delivery is not available. Liaise with the accounts department if using a store card.
- Complete relevant WHS training and storage and maintenance of risk assessments
- Any other duties as required by the TAS KLA as communicated via the TAS Leader or Leadership Team member.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful application will bring:
- Previous experience in kitchen assistance (food preparation, ordering and storage) suitably managed to meet time and learning demands for classes Year 7-12.
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Regularly exercise independent initiative and judgement
- Excellent communication skills with a student-focused approach to service and support to ensure TAS learning outcomes are able to be achieved
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a well functioning team
- Food handling certificate
- Valid WWCC
