Gilroy Catholic College is looking for a Teacher in Charge of the Library to join their community on a permannent full time basis.
The Teacher in Charge of the Library is responsible to the Principal. The Teacher in Charge of the Library shares in leading the learning at Gilroy Catholic College, supporting the Principal and the Leadership Team. All new appointments to this role will be a permanent full time member of staff.
Purpose
The Teacher in charge of the Library supports the College Leadership in implementing the College Mission through advocating and building effective library and information services and programs that contribute to the development of lifelong learners. In addition, it is the role of the Teacher Librarian to manage the day-to-day operations of the library. The teacher librarian is also responsible for teaching two classes in their relevant KLA.
Key Responsibilities
- Encourage and support the Catholic culture, mission and religious ethos of Gilroy Catholic College
- Give personal witness and model Gospel values while actively supporting the College Mission, “We all strive to learn, achieve and progress as we walk in the light of Christ”
- Participate in liturgical and formation opportunities
- Implement, enrich and support the learning and teaching program of the college by collaborating with teachers to encourage students to develop their independent learning and research skills
- Nurture, inspire and stimulate the vital importance of reading for pleasure and information
- Manage an extensive and relevant collection of curriculum resources to support the learning, co-curricular and recreational needs of the college community
- Provide a welcoming, flexible learning environment for the college community in which students can learn individually, in small groups and in class groups.
- Provide a reference service to staff and students.
- Provide specialist assistance to students and staff using technology, information systems and digital technologies including the use of CSPD learning and resource databases as well as the Clickview platform.
- Integrate progressive e-learning and information services across the College.
- Evaluate information resources, in all formats, for use by teachers and students including the production of course bibliographies.
- Liaise with the Leader of Teaching and Learning to accommodate and supervise the
learning needs of distance language students as required. - Liaise with the Lead Teacher of ASPECT to accommodate and promote the library and resource needs of students with diverse learning backgrounds.
