We are currently seeking an experienced IT Service Owner - Education Systems to work within the Platform team to design user-centric technology solutions, services and journeys, supporting every state of the product development / service design lifecycle to ensure delivery of the best possible end-user experience.
About the opportunity:
Reporting to the Head of IT Education Platform, the IT Service Owner - Education Systems is accountable for the management of Application Delivery and Support of all Education systems, such as Canvas, Library and Timetabling systems, as well as working with the broader team to enable outcomes and success of Education Applications and IT Services within the IT Education Platform.
The IT Service Owner is responsible for sourcing information from various sources to enable monitoring of product/service performance and assessing that performance against key regulatory and performance objectives.
The role will involve managing a cross-functional team and leading stakeholder engagement across directorates, schools and external stakeholders to design and deliver service roadmap, and documenting processes to ensure sound change management.
Key accountabilities:
Leading and defining an outcome-oriented service roadmap, informed by customer insights and feedback.
Defining and writing user stories, acceptance criteria and success metrics, ensuring customer-centric product design, development and delivery
Ensuring service design compliance with regulatory obligations and relevant CSPD’ s policies and standards, proactively identifying, mitigating and managing risks associated to the service, and remediation initiatives
Planning and designing tests that validate services have been built against design specification
Embedding a service management culture within the wider team and lead all service design activities for the platform
Managing and monitoring change to continuously improve the platform offering and processes to facilitate the overall customer experience, and provide recommendations to improve results
Managing staff workload, prioritise responsibilities, mentor and coach team members
Typical experience and qualifications:
Extensive experience in IT service management and/or project management; including experience in delivery and support of Education applications including LMS and Library systems, experience of Canvas is highly desirable
Proven strategic skills and business acumen with demonstrated success in leading and executing on projects
Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and management capabilities
Proven ability to lead and influence without direct authority
Strong problem-solving capabilities with strong motivation with investigating and providing recommended options/solutions to complex problems and technical nuances
Experience working in Agile and DevOps environment and cross-functional teams
Significant experience managing SaaS and COTS platform applications development and quality assurance
Proven service continuity experience including planning. implementing and testing strategies and solutions to ensure platform applications can be recovered and restored
