Santa Sophia Catholic College (Box Hill) provides a Christ centred environment, aimed at educating the whole child, and helping students to be people of true wisdom through faith, hope and love. The College brings together the best we know about how young people learn and how to teach them. Within a Catholic faith environment, students will learn how to be responsible global citizens, how to think creatively and critically, how to communicate and work collaboratively.

We are seeking applications for the position of Formation Leader: Liturgy (K-12). This will be a 2 point Coordinator position. The Formation Leader: Liturgy (K-12) will be responsible to the Leader of Formation and Mission for coordinating the liturgical life of the College. 

Summary of Duties:

 

  • Plan and implement class, school and whole-College liturgies (and paraliturgies) such as masses, reconciliations, Eucharistic adoration.

  • Liaise and collaborate effectively with other liturgical ministries and roles such as musicians, Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, acolytes and altar servers.

  • Manage and prepare liturgical items, signs and aesthetics.

  • Develop initiatives that promote the liturgical life of the College for students, staff and parents.

  • Assist in the promotion and management of the chapel (usage, care and development) including the Blessed Sacrament.

  • Assist College liturgical needs on spirituality days, retreats, and pilgrimages.

  • Collaborate with the Formation Team on Formation initiatives.

  • Maintain compliance and other administrative requirements of the role.

 

Position criteria

 

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of the Catholic Church.

  • Enthusiasm for the Mission of the Catholic Church and all its Teachings.

  • Familiarity and respect for official liturgical guidelines and regulations.

  • Active personal commitment to the Catholic Faith.

  • Relevant undergraduate or postgraduate studies in theology, Religious Education, ministry or other appropriate.
