The High Support Needs Centres for Learning are set in the context of Xavier College, Llandilo , St Patrick’s Marist College, Dundas and St Luke's Arrunga School providing students with an alternate platform for learning. The learning for students enrolled in the centres will reflect their needs and will, where appropriate include attendance in some mainstream classes. Through a focus on learning and wellbeing, our centres provide individualised programs and support for children with high support needs.
About the opportunity:
The Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese is seeking Specialist Teachers to work within the high support needs space, and be accountable for supporting our Strategic Intent of improving learning outcomes for all students and promoting a professional and rewarding working life for teachers.
The Specialist Teacher is accountable for:
Creating inclusive practice in school culture in relation to the effective implementation of personalised learning and adjustments for students with additional needs and disability Understanding and implementing the Personalised Planning process
Providing specialised teaching support services to schools aimed at building teacher capacity using a gradual release model
Providing expert advice to leadership teams, teachers and the wider system on matters related to specific disabilities and/or additional needs in accordance with CSPD guidelines
About you:
To be successful in this highly rewarding role you will demonstrate alignment with the purpose and core values of CSPD along with:
Compliance with NSW Child Protection Legislation - Working with Children Check clearance
Eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
Tertiary Qualification (minimum 4-year degree, or 75% complete)
Previous experience working with vulnerable students
Demonstrated ability to build meaningful relationships with students and support an inclusive learning environment
