The Catholic Learning Community of John XXIII Catholic Primary School and St Mark’s Catholic College caters to the growing needs of our community with over 1,800 K-12 students. We are an innovative College and welcome applications from passionate and energetic educators who are encouraged to take risks with their learning to support student growth. The College emphasises the intrinsic value of the student/teacher relationship, which focuses on making the student learning experience connected, relevant, differentiated and personalised. Our College has a collaborative approach to teaching and learning with teachers operating in agile professional learning environments.

This temporary full-time position is a maternity leave block commencing 27 April 2020 and concluding 18 December 2020.

It is highly desirable if the applicant has experience working with Stage 6 Society & Culture along with Junior HSIE.

Key focus areas

The Secondary Teacher will fit the following criteria:

-Extensive pedagogical knowledge base and understanding of how the identified subject areas are learned, what affects students’ opportunities to learn the subject matter and how the learning and teaching of the subject matter can be enhanced.

-Understanding of how to differentiate learning to cater for students needs in order to maximise student learning.

-Sound understanding of the learning environments, lesson plans, use of technology, teaching practices and delivery of assessment and learning feedback.

-Committed to the continual improvement of their teaching practice and take opportunities for personal professional development.

-Work creatively and constructively within a range of 'communities' inside and beyond the school and set high, achievable goals for themselves and their students.

-Able to motivate students to achieve and to develop a life-long love of learning.
